Hello and welcome to my portfolio website.
My name is Joey and I'm a film photographer based in Lyon, France.
All my images are shot on 35mm or 120 film, home developed, scanned and transformed into digital files using Negative Lab Pro in Lightroom.
To me nothing beats the film photo experience for the following reasons:
- being able to use a variety of beautiful, hand crafted, iconic, all mechanical, old, vintage or electronic camera's. (the camera porn is real)
- ability to use some of the best lenses ever made: Zeiss, Leica,...
- pairing these camera's up with an endless variety of film stock, old stock, expired film.
- being able to experiment with pushing, pulling, overexposing film in search of an interesting look.
- slowing the photographic experience down, taking more time with each frame, developing each roll at home in a time-consuming but rewarding routine.
- Keeping track of my photo negatives in organized files and physical form. A negative is a beautiful medium for safe keeping and reproduction.
I like shooting moods, feels and basically any subject in interesting "low" light. I usually overexpose the film to obtain a pastel color look. I'm a huge fan of shooting "wheels on rolls", especially vintage cars and preferably in beautiful settings. I like the idea of going on a roadtrip with a vintage car and document along the way.
If you like my work or should you be interested in prints, 1-off negatives, digital use of my images or simply if you'd like to exchange on the topic of film photography, feel free to reach out to me using my contact sheet or through social media.
Thanks a bunch for stopping by and happy shooting to all of you,
Joey
